Some training is organized by the NoE Humanist project for development of the professionals in the road transport sector. There is a summer school program called ‘Intelligent Transport Systems: Design and Safety.’ The training is conducted by lecturers from European research centers. They will share their knowledge on safety and driving techniques. They will also discuss topics like the development of new technologies of information and communication. The present development of road telematics and driver assistance program has various advantages. But there are still doubts about their effectiveness.
The human factors in road transport are available in Europe; however, they are scattered. Integrating the research capabilities in Europe is essential. This project brings 22 Partners from 14 European countries. The summer school is meant for transportation and traffic professionals, system designers, engineers, researchers and specialists who work in the following sectors:
- Departments of transport and communication
- Automotive and related industries
- Public bodies related to transport
Every day in summer school, there are lectures and practical exercises. The exercises are done in small groups. The following topics are covered in the training programs.
- ITS functions and their impact on safety
- Types of ITS functions and interfaces
- Driving safety
- Measurement techniques for evaluating ITS
- Driver workload and brain processes
- Design guideline for human-machine interaction
The summer school will take place in Saint-Lary Soulan, France from 20th August 2016. The environment is beautiful and has all kinds of outdoor activities including thermal spa. The summer school will cost €339. The cost covers three days of lectures single accommodation and course materials.
